Or leave them the fuck alone and let the live in dream land…I mean, as an atheist, I think religion is so many levels of senseless…but if we’re trying to, in a sense, convert them to atheism, then how are we any better than them?…

The difference like if there was this person that tries to make everyone around believe he has a dragon in his backyard, and then you trying to convince him that this isn’t true. One is obviously better than the other. We measure it with, you know, reality.

If any atheist tries to “convert” me. I would not be a very happy black woman. I am content in my religion and just because you don’t like it, it doesn’t give you the right to be an asshat.

Atheist can’t “convert” you. You have your faith, and the type of your faith depends (amongst ohters) on what your family’s faith was. “Convert” means change your type of belief, the type of your faith. As atheism is rather defined as a lack of faith, than faith in nothing, then you can’t “convert to atheism”. You can just drop unjustified claims and start thinking on you own.

That being said - if you claim you’re content with/in your religion, then you should definitely see one of those honest/smart/religious triangles saying ‘pick two’.

First, it is not ‘just because I don’t like it’. Why? Here it goes:

then I think that there are two possibilities:

a) if you are a thinking person that is able to use reason and think logically then that means that talking to you still has a meaning and there is a ray of hope for you to critically analyze your own claims, you are not really content with your religion but you’ve just simply chosen to neglect all the uncomfortable bits and focus on all the good ones

b) if you are denying any claims opposing your beliefs AT ALL, then there is really no point in being curteous and try to guide you. Honestly - if you were a person that is content with what religion does you wouldn’t be even worth to be an asshat to you.
